A little slice of heaven...

June 14, 2017

Heaven Coffee is one of those little hide away places that you just kinda stumble on in the centre of town.  Some plants and an Origin umbrella alerted us to something interesting happening at the historic Central Methodist Mission church on Greenmarket Square.

We climbed the steps and found Mondli Mahamba nestled in the vestibule of the church. A beautiful tiled floor, a sweep of staircase (heading for the bell tower? ), a wooden bench to sit on and a wood-panelled and glass counter-top behin which Mondli made his coffee and served some cake and other snacks.

The Central Methodist Mission has an open door policy and people are welcome to come in to rest, meditate, or just take in the Gothic architecture. Heaven Coffee is there to welcome you from 07h00 to 15h30, 7 days a week.

Mondli started work at Dapper Coffee Co, then did the Origin barista course and has opened up his own place. We felt as though we had discovered hidden treasure finding this quiet, calm space in the hurly burly of the city where you can ’take a pue' and have coffee served to you with the widest smile in Cape Town.
